    Animal by Miike Snow

In the wake of Animal Collective and Passion Pit comes the Swedish band Miike Snow, pronounced Me-K Snow. While Miike Snow certainly borrows heavily from other indie electro-pop bands they definitely have come across a unique sound by the way of singing in chorus. Unfortunately, one of their voices either sounds dreadfully similar to the lead signer of Blue October, Justin Furstenfeld, or they are adding the same effect – either way it is hard for me to stomach given the stark contrast in the way each band approaches lyrical rhythm.

    Walkabout by Atlas Sound

No this isn’t a hidden track from Animal Collective’s “Merriweather Post Pavilion” but that is what Bradford Cox was aiming for when he produced the song.  Apparently, he was so thrilled with AC’s latest that he wanted to make an album that sounded just like it.  Bradford is doing great work but he might have trouble selling copies of his future look-a-like, I’m just saying…

Summertime tracks never get old in July

While Animal Collective may have won your hearts over in January, I had to actually see them live at Sasquatch before dusting off their latest album.

How could they go wrong with the perfectly titled track “Summertime Clothes” in June? Well I can tell you they didn’t, the song is spot on despite the terrible music video, enjoy!
