    Neon Indian LP Psychic Chasms

Adam Palomo is Neon Indian. Born in 1988 he knows very little of the NES and the 80′s. So for Palomo, Neon Indian is a musical exploration into a decade that has long since past. I will of course listen to the Neon Indian’s LP Psychic Chasms unintendedly, with a childhood-like nostalgia. The next two songs are my favorites from Psychic Chasms, while not great musical pieces their synthed melodies are charmingly vintage and harmonic.

    Enjoy!

King Fantastic with Bassnectar and The Glitch Mob

    This is King Fantastic.

King Fantastic is a So. Cali rapper who is bent on interpolating his libretto into some mean electro synths. I have to admit – the sound is fresh. Have a listen and hit up his website to learn more about him, and to grab a free download of his many remixes as well as a copy of his new album, Finger Snaps and Gun Claps, also free.

    Enjoy!

it’s the RAC remix of Ra Ra Riot’s “Boy”

RAC, the Remix Arts Collective, just released a remix of Ra Ra Riot’s “Boy”. RAC takes the original – throws some dream pop at it and pushes with a slightly quicker pace. Personally, I prefer the original, but as remixes go… this refresh is as professionally done as you’ll find.

    Enjoy!

Free Energy – Bang Pop (Fools Gold Remix)

Fools Gold took Free Energy’s “Bang Pop”, a pure 70′s stoner track, and put it through a course in Afro Electro Pop. The outcome is surprisingly dreamy, until the vocal highs kick in and it turns epic. I highly recommend this one with some sunlight.

    Enjoy!

update: Thought some people might be interested… Here is the original track from Free Energy titled “Bang Pop”.

Bassnectar weds with Nelly Furtado, creates a Magical World

a graphical representation of bassnectar's magical world

This is the latest from Bassnectar. It’s an elemental marriage of hip hop and dub step. Nelly Furtado contributed the vocals from “Turn Out The Lights” and Bassnectar brought the bassline from “Timestretch”. The catchy will surely have you off your guard.

    Enjoy!

Yolanda Be Cool – We No Speak Americano

This amazing track was one that my brother, the Jerbs, brought to my attention after returning Stateside from his short stay at a Paris nightclub. It’s just about the most catchy song you’ve ever heard. Yolanda Be Cool is the collaboration of two musically gifted blokes from Australia: Sylvester Martinez and Johnson Peterson. On the first song, “We No Speak Americano” they brought in the skills of producer Duncan MacLennan aka DCUP, and what they came away with was house music at its finest. The other two songs, “Afro Nuts” also featuring DCUP and a remix of “Annie Mac”.

Rumor has it that the name Yolanda Be Cool is an obscure Pulp Fiction reference. There is a scene in the movie where Jules Winnfield tells Yolanda, the coffee-shoprobber, to be cool. Nice.

    La Roux is Lazerproof

This is my favorite song from Major Lazer’s full remix album of La Roux’s debut EP; he calls it Lazerproof. This track is pure summer gold.

    Enjoy!
